Monthly playlist-Favourite Albums September 2023

logo playlist It must have been something crooked that shall remain unnamed that brought back David Eugene Edwards, Hexvessel and Chelsea Wolfe in the same month, or maybe it was the Harvest Moon! The music that we enjoyed in September had more prominent rock elements than anything else but at the same time, the releases of last month moved away from rock rhythms by slowing them down, and infusing them with heaviness, distortion, ceremonial rhythms and some IDM elements too.

Monthly playlist-Favourite albums January 2023

If January made you want to smash things and, more importantly, if you’ve NEVER had this urge before, then our favourite releases of the month will be the perfect soundtrack for you.

Not only did we have the first solo album by Singapore Sling’s vocalist Henrik Björnsson called The Cult Of One, setting the mood up but we also had an abysmally dark black metal release to go with it by a side project of Gnaw Their Tongues, called Den Edele Dood.

Monthly playlist-Favourite albums October 2022

logo playlist It is always the melancholic, the eerie and the mysterious elements in music that tell the most interesting stories. We embrace Autumn and the coming Winter with a soundtrack for a dance bizarre of ghosts – real or imaginary – and creatures of the night. This month, our favourite independent music releases covered the punk, IDM, ethereal, neoclassical, downtempo and rock dimensions of the sonic spectrum. We particularly salute the beautiful come back of The Cult with a release of their new album entitled ‘Under The Midnight Sun’ as well as the new offering by Nox Arcana – ‘Darkfall’, like clockwork in time for the celebration of Samhain.

Monthly playlist- Favourite albums August 2022

logo playlist The acceptance of a condition described by the word ‘bizarre’ must come when enveloped by a sinister soundscape. The dreamy state that ensues after such an acceptance should have elements of hypnotic psychedelia. You must listen to this playlist for two reasons: it contains an ancient curse set to music and one of the strangest, more obscure and obscene releases of the year so far. We are of course referring to the new album ‘Drift‘ by Heilung and the crazy release entitled ‘BORDELLOBUIO‘ by BAMBOLABUIO.

Monthly playlist- Favourite albums December 2021

logo playlist December, the last month of another dark year, filled with the feelings and news surrounding a pandemic. The soundtrack of the month was nothing but following the collective mood as the world seems to be ‘closing down’ again. We listened to 60 releases during this month and chose those ones who sketched the most wicked, the most obscure and for these reasons, the most interesting sonic journey for us.
