logo playlistWe listened to 70 independent/underground releases during October 2023, and we were stunned by the debut singles/EP/albums during this month. 26 of these 70 releases form this monthly playlist and let us admit that there have been a few disappointing releases that did not make it despite our biased convictions that they would.

There are some big highlights here and I am not just referring to the customary October release by Nox Arcana who once again gave us a haunting gothic sonata to get us through Spooktober! Oliver Marson, whose intriguing stage presence we enjoyed recently at the 100 Club, released a very memorable, new wave, synthwave album entitled ‘Why Did I Choose This?‘. The overall sound of this album brings to mind equally the Psychedelic Furs and Japan and the melodies are addictive beyond belief. The lyrics also share some Bukowski qualities and are quite poetic and pop at the same time.

Monthly playlist- Favourite albums December 2021

logo playlistDecember, the last month of another dark year, filled with the feelings and news surrounding a pandemic. The soundtrack of the month was nothing but following the collective mood as the world seems to be ‘closing down’ again. We listened to 60 releases during this month and chose those ones who sketched the most wicked, the most obscure and for these reasons, the most interesting sonic journey for us. Enjoy them here and find our favourite songs on the image links.

Monthly playlist-Favourite albums September 2021

logo playlist We have been seeking spiritual solace through the new music we have been listening to throughout this month. It was such a relief that, during our journey we came across the latest dreamy sonic tale by Edward Ka-Spel and Patrick Q.Wright! We might not have found anything but disquiet along the way, we might have felt nothing less than an urge to delve into deeper and darker spiritual labyrinths, but we enjoyed the trip very much. You can expect heartbreaking dark folk sonic tales, describing powerful everyday feelings and situations that would feel anybody feel powerless. At the same time, textured, IDM and industrial soundscapes fill the atmosphere with a ‘heaviness’ that is only being alleviated by the power of the synthesizer, ever so present in our favourite post-punk releases. At the end of the day you need to ask yourselves:

Are sonic ceremonies enabling or disturbing your psychic processes? What were you doing on the day the night forgot to visit?

If you don’t learn to laugh at life it’ll surely kill you, that I know-BROM

logo playlistMarch was a dark month, especially in the UK as it was the month when the lockdown measures were put in place, creating a new situation even for the reclusive misfits of society. The sonic output of this month was rich but we did not find it as easy, to identify truly exceptional releases. There were many EPs and albums that confused us both with the plurality of their influences and with the fact that the bands seemed to be unable to make sonic sense out of all this. Once again it was the most experimental approaches to sound that fascinated us and a spirit of relentless energy that has been retained and enhanced from all-time favourite bands.
