logo playlistAre black holes cannibals or is the universe a cannibal? This monthly playlist aims at taking you on an experimental, dark sonic meditational journey that leaves the mind with a numbing sensation and the soul with a difficult-to-satisfy ‘hunger’.  Starting off inside melodic and dark IDM sonic spaces, we are offering a trip into dark ambient, heavy psych rock, post-punk, coldwave soundscapes which ends on the top of a hill filled with Scottish folk melodies.

We were particularly excited for having Empusae‘s latest offering on this playlist, ‘Praeter‘, coming three years after his previous release. ‘Walls‘ the new release by Hollow Columns alongside Maya Shenfeld‘s ‘In Free Fall‘, added the dark ambient, poetic and cryptic tone that this conceptually obscure playlist needed in order to properly place itself in the realm of dark music. Further along, Vlimmer‘s new EP made us want to remind ourselves of the music of Diary of Dreams, while Biosphere‘s fascination with 70s post-punk electronics and the way this was translated into an improvisational psychedelia was a particularly fascinating moment during the creation of this playlist.

We hope you enjoy this playlist as much as we enjoyed making it.

logo playlist A dance to death by a songbird in boghz as it navigates the world in a year of no light! It is flying through urban places best left to rot together with their self-defying, self-loathing inhabitants. It only stops momentarily when it hears a heart beating fast in agony. It only takes off again when the sorrow reaches manageable levels. The sound it creates when it flaps its wings is only audible to creatures looking for sonic disquiet. Can you hear it? Can you bear it?

If this playlist were a soundtrack for a ball, it would be for a dance-macabre. Borrowing aesthetic elements from black and white movies about ghosts and twisting and turning them so that they end up sounding as an injured animal that roars, this monthly playlist is not for the faint-hearted light seekers. Enjoy it!

If you don’t learn to laugh at life it’ll surely kill you, that I know-BROM

logo playlistMarch was a dark month, especially in the UK as it was the month when the lockdown measures were put in place, creating a new situation even for the reclusive misfits of society. The sonic output of this month was rich but we did not find it as easy, to identify truly exceptional releases. There were many EPs and albums that confused us both with the plurality of their influences and with the fact that the bands seemed to be unable to make sonic sense out of all this. Once again it was the most experimental approaches to sound that fascinated us and a spirit of relentless energy that has been retained and enhanced from all-time favourite bands.

Dark Door a.k.a Mario D’Aniello and Federica Velenia, is a band that was formed in Naples and a band that you should know about, because their music is beautiful and their performances are emotionally and visually very strong! They have self-released 4 Logo interviewalbums so far, whose music is more an outlet of their feelings than a desire to create music of a certain style.Inspired by the damned poets, darkness in aesthetics and the darkness in the world, Dark Door give to these elements an attractive musical and visual form. We had the great chance to see them perform live as part of a special Dead&Buried event last month, which was carried out in a suitable venue which does not pose any health and safety risks to an audience and can accommodate the sound requirements for a gig.Everyone had a lot of fun during that gig, everyone was dancing all the time and Blaue Rosen loved this band so much, that we had to talk with them about their influences, the symbolism in their visuals and their sources of inspiration.
